Pre-Order: Sailor Moon [Part One]

Sailor-Moon

It’s official, Madman is my favourite DVD company. Ever. Criterion is too conneisuer and overpriced, Umbrella have ugly cover art and don’t know how to spell check and Madman never let me down. Arthouse releases, documentaries and horror not to mention releasing those out of print/forgotten about gems.  I declared my love for them when they released Samurai Pizza Cats but it went to a whole new level when I heard they were releasing another childhood favourite – Sailor Moon.

Not only are they releasing it on DVD and Blu-Ray but they’ve also got episodes to watch for free on AnimeLab.

Moon Prism Power, Make Up!

Usagi Tsukino is a cheerful 14-year-old schoolgirl who often finds herself in unwanted trouble. One day, she saves a talking cat named Luna from some mean kids, and her life is changed forever. Luna gives Usagi a magic brooch that transforms her into Sailor Moon, defender of love and justice! Now Usagi must work with Luna to find the other Sailor Guardians and the Moon Princess, whose Legendary Silver Crystal is Earth’s only hope against the dark forces of the evil Queen Beryl!

Extras:

  • Clean Opening & Closing
  • Galleries
  • English Dub Behind the Scenes

Now available to Pre-Order from Madman Entertainment.

Shock to release Salo in 2015

Salo

Finally I can part with my original Criterion edition of this DVD that has a photocopied cover (asshole on Trademe!). More importantly and finally a Region 4 copy and  a Blu-Ray copy. Yes, I know Criterion re-released it and the BFI did on Blu-ray  too but I ain’t spending a week’s worth of power and phone bill on one Blu-ray when I already have the film although a lot of those extras would have been worth it I was wise to wait as even though it took years we finally have a Region 4 release. Will be sure to keep an eye on Shock’s Cinema Cult label as it looks like they’e been releasing and are set to release R4 editions of a lot of overlooked cult classics. They’re also releasing Killer Klowns in February as well.

Honeyspider Trailer Released

HONEYSPIDER takes place in 1989 on Halloween day and follows college student Jackie Blue as she slowly unravels, all while a mysterious stranger watches over her every move. Soon she finds herself helplessly trapped like prey in a spider’s web, and all she can do is try to survive the night!

HONEYSPIDER is written and produced by Kenny Caperton (owner of the infamous Myers House NC) and directed by Josh Hasty (‘A Mannequin in Static’) of Paramount Scope. The film stars Frank Aard (‘April Fool’s Day’ remake), Joan Schuermeyer (‘Zombieland’ and RZ’s ‘Halloween 2’), Rachel Jeffreys, Samantha Mills (‘Bombshell Bloodbath’) and newcomer Mariah Brown.

Billy Corgan of the iconic rock band The Smashing Pumpkins has generously given the filmmakers the rights to use one of his early SP tracks entitled “Honeyspider,” which inspired the name of the movie. The film will also feature music from legendary music producer and singer songwriter Gary S. Paxton, who arranged and produced the original Bobby (Boris) Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers “Monster Mash” album.

In addition to the double feature screenings, HONEYSPIDER will also be hitting the film festival circuit in search of distribution later this Fall.
